Our 2013 Founder’s Week Celebration

Monday, Feb. 4 | Domestic Violence Awareness Forum
Teaming up with APIA, with our very own APIA director as the speaker, our goal was to educate our community about the facts, causes, and resources available about domestic violence. In loving memory of our fallen sister, Valerie Zavala, we hoped to continue the legacy that she left behind and use your as inspiration to teach our community.

Tuesday, Feb. 5 | Banh Mi Fundraiser
Our bi-annual Banh Mi Fundraiser is always a success! Thanks to the constant support from our Asia American and Greek Community, we were able to really teach our campus about Asian culture through food, while also fundraise for our chapter at the same time! Our menu included either chicken, beef or cold cut for the banh mi, a salad with Asian dressing, and a rice krispie treat that came in original or oreo flavor!

Wednesday, Feb. 6 | Strolling at the Set and Cake Cutting
A group of sisters put together a performance that would take place at one of our most popular areas on campus, Turlington! In between class changes, students within our and outside of our council gathered around to watch us talk about our history as a sorority as well perform a stroll. Afterwards, we cut a cake in celebration of founder’s day!

Thursday, Feb. 7 | Service Event at the Hope Lodge Foundation
To exemplify our pillar of service, our chapter was happy to volunteer at The Hope Lodge Foundation, where we were able to get the recovering cancer patients up and on their feet for a fun and interactive time. Playing old music, we line danced, had games, prizes, and baked goods for the patients to enjoy! Giving back is definitely worth the time!

Friday, Feb. 8 | Social with Sigma Lambda Beta
Showing that purple and white pride, we had a field day social at Squirrel Ridge Park where we played flag football and gathered around for a potluck. It was a great way to strengthen our relationships with a fraternity within our very own MGC Council and we can’t wait for the next one!

Saturday, Feb. 9 & Sunday, Feb. 10 | Sisterhood Weekend
After a long week of events for our Founder’s Week, what’s a better way to end it than with our most important pillar, sisterhood. Getting together and having a movie night and time to relax and spend the day together, was exactly what we all needed and now we’re more than ready to face the next week of exams!
